LapCore Vol. 1 |
--bleed review in De:Bug |

[6:33] NoseBleed.mp3 (6.1 MB) NoseBleed features raging hallucinatory synth lines riding over 156 beats on the floor pumping sub bass hard techno vein beats. Over the course of the track the dynamic time slicing algorithms begin to mix up the driving rhythmic forces creating a nicely evolving dance texture. Sounds also great pitched down to 142 BPM. | ||
[4:56] Pneumonic.mp3 (4.6 MB) At 142 BPM Pneumonic offers endless creative possibilities for advanced DJ's and remixers with it's shifting catchy beats, spektralized build-ups, and syncopated filter sequences. | ||
[6:32] FindYou.mp3 (6.1 MB) Simple harmonies merge spectra together over a straight-up down-tempo beat. The effect is a melodic catchy LapCore LOUNGE TEXTURE, with plenty of room for mixing parts over but also sounds great stand-alone. | ||
[5:00] SxeBtch.mp3 (4.7 MB) SxeBtch is a tight and dry breakbeat experiment built out of Reaktor3. The source samples come from Prince's "Sexy Dancer" and Miles Davis' "Bitches Brew" The rest is 142 BPM pure LapCore. | ||

[5:37] Pneumonic_ar_rmx.mp3 (5.4 MB) Akira Rabelais was so very kind as to submit an unsolicited remix of one of our favorite tracks: Pneumonic. Akira cleverly (re)combines the lush soundscape of Pneumonic with his own dystopic sense of groove madness. We love his work and are very grateful for his fully great contribution. We hope you enjoy this remix as much as we do. Visit his insanely cool site: Akira Rabelais. | ||
[5:56] SxeBtch_HearMeCall.mp3 (5.7 MB) When I was in Bremerhaven to perform rEtRO fUtURA I met Baradelan who handed me a CD-rom onto which he had burned this wicked dubstep remix of SxeBtch. I was totally blown away. His remix is fett! NJOY! |
------------------------------------------------------------------ 6i PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT Sept 9, 2002 6i Announces 6i=EP01 LapCore Vol 1 6i's first release, LapCore Vol 1, is the culmination beat warping, laptop crushing, software synthesized beat explorations. A venue for Kent's own brand of beat music (LapCore), this EP features versions of tracks from Kent's rare live sets during 2001. These tracks are only available on 12" vinyl (6i=EP01) or 128k mp3 audio at www.u6i.de. Check the website for availability of the vinyl as this is strictly a LIMITED EDITION production run. Click here for a current list of distributors. Side A of LapCore Vol 1 is undeniably energy driven. "A1-NoseBleed" features raging hallucinatory synth lines riding over 156 beats on the floor pumping sub bass hard techno vein beats. Over the course of the track the dynamic time slicing algorithms begin to mix up the driving rhythmic forces creating a nicely evolving dance texture. Sounds also great pitched down to 142 BPM. As of release date, "A2-Pneumonic," is the track which has had the most success. A CD remix has been recently made available on a compilation called "The Art of Programming: Sonic Acts 2001," which includes a CD, DVD, and book all containing works from Kent, as well as Monolake, Scanner, Beta Bodega Collection, Rechenzentrum, Otto von Schirach, and more. Also a pre-release mp3 remix of "A2-Pneumonic" has been submitted by microsonic ritornell artist Akira Rabelais. Akira's remix is available free for download at www.u6i.de. At 142 BPM "A2-Pneumonic" offers endless creative possibilities for advanced DJ's and remixers with it's shifting catchy beats, spektralized build-ups, and syncopated filter sequences. Side B of LapCore Vol 1 is significantly more laid-back. In the case of "B1-FindYou" like down tempo hop even. Simple harmonies merge spectra together over a straight up down tempo beat. The effect is a melodic catchy LapCore LOUNGE TEXTURE, with plenty of room for mixing parts over but also sounds great stand-alone. "B2-SxeBtch" was born out of a conversation with Jake Mandell on pop music form in a techno/electronic dance music context. After discussing his strategies for "love songs for machines" with me we traded some reaktor patches, and presto blammo: a sxeBtch was born. she's 142 BPM and Rashad at dubplates and mastering gave her that club pumping sound which he's so famous for: thanks man! And thanks Jake! www.orange-pink.com File under: LapCore. Aside from 6i, and Sonic Acts, Kent's work can also be heard on the Native Lab Compilation (WMF) and fals.ch Please direct any press, booking, remix requests, and ordering inquiries to lapcore@u6i.de http://www.u6i.de copyright (c)2002 kent clelland and 6i music all rights reserved |
